Just noticed over the past couple of days that my rangie is leaning on the drivers side, I've just measured the ride height on both sides front and rear, the drivers side is an inch lower than the passenger side, I've checked for a broken spring but can't seem to see anything amiss, anyone got any ideas? the spring kit is Bearmach BA2227.

I Know this is a really old thread but I went to look at a P38 last night with a freind of mine and i noticed the exact same thing but this time it was leaning to the passanger side. Its on coil springs that all looked nealry new why would it be doing this any ideas?

Can springs go on upside down or back to front?

There are two springs for the rear and two for the front. Maybe some idiot has fitted them side to side instead of front to rear. P38s on coils are a butchered vehicle anyway and a sign of lack of maintenance in it's life.

Lack of maintenance or not its on springs. It has a full main dealer service history up to 130000 its now on 138000. So is it possible they may have put a front and a rear spring on the front or are they all the same length.

Obviously a crap main dealer with a stamp then. If it has been serviced the EAS should have been part of that service, and should have been kept up to scratch not let deteriorate to the point of fitting coils. The rear springs are a different rate to the front springs don't know if they are longer or shorter front to back. So yes they could have been fitted incorrectly. Or it has had a very overweight driver. You could always put a few bags of cement on the passenger seat.

I hear what your saying but anyway coils it is :)... And diffrent weight ratings might be the issue.. the springs have a painted strip on them does this need to be facing a particular way?

No just fitted on rear or front as required. Don't know what the colour code is, could be anything should be in the bumf that came with the kit.

Reading the PDF here Page 6 - Performance Catalogues_for Flicker

It seems that two sets of springs are available the standard and +20mm Perhaps spring type has been mixed.

Thank you, they are all the same colour (black) and have a blue Stripe down the middle of them.

been reading a few threads on leaning but nobody ever says why it was in the end lol at the price hes asking i think we will just buy it anyway.

If you are getting it cheap you can afford to put it back on air and have proper P38 instead of a plush Disco. :D:D:D

The classics tend to have a lean on one side due to the transfer case being offset from the vehicle centerline

It seems from the Bearmach brochures that the spring kit BA2227 is blue springs. maybe someone's done a half arsed job with the spring conversion, which was a half arsed job of the suspension.

Unless there is a specific reason for converting a P38 to springs, like you're modifying the off-road capabilities for an expedition through the Andes, anyone that does it really needs a slap upside the head.

good luck littelwill with converting it back to what it should be.. I applaud you for that !

Some aftermarket springs have a longer drivers side front spring to compensate for this. They may have been put on wrong way round and exaggerated problem

Correct ! though with the P38 on springs being a mish-mash, i dont think there is the variety of spring options as with the classics..

In all seriousness and without sarcy comments could someone list the things needed to put one of these back to air please

depends what's missing..

assuming the systems is still there, it should just need airbags, an EAS access tool (datatek) and maybe a valve block and compressor overhaul kit..

and a priest that is experienced in exorcism
