P38 DSE Oil change

Hi lads

Picked up a new filter and some oil today anyone got a step by step guide to change the oil?

Warm engine.

Engine pan/washing up bowl lol, under the car.

Remove sump bolt.

Remove engine filler cap.

Remove oil filter. Fit new oil filter and o rings.

Refit sump plug.

Fill with 8L of semi synth.

Fire up for a few seconds.

Let settle and top up the the upper mark. I think its 8.5L from emply.

You dont even need to jack the car up.

hey simon, mine took 9 litres ,and you forgot take bolts out and pull lift pump to the side so you can change filter,just being picky!

Rave say 8.7 litres for a refill in the diesel.

Crawl under from the passenger side : first time under this here numpty couldn't find the SUMP !!

well job done, was handy enough. made the intelligent decision to crawl in from the front and get oil all over my face from the axle!! other than that a straight forward job thanks for the tips lads

actually anyone any ideas what i can do with the old engine oil???

you could try your local waste disposal centre,i know mine takes old oil.

Yea take your old oil to your local civic amenity site (tip) for responsible disposal.

sorry paddocks 1967 i bow to your superior knowledge,but there is no f$%^ing way i could change my filter without moving fuel filter housing.

There is no need to remove anything, other than perhaps the oil dip stick, in order to remove the oil filter.

Experience shows all you need is the correct 36mm socket to get the filter out.

some dope broke the plastic bits on top of my filter but had no prop opening it with an oil filter spanner thingamybob!!!! did move the dip stick

Yea, its well worth investing in the correct large socket to get the oil filter cover off.

Oh yea give it to me!! my old 1958 burns it up so fast i have never changes the oil on it, i use my old oil from changes and my neighbours oil too

well your all welcome over for next oil change to see that on my motor cant change filter without moving fuel filter body.
