Hi all,

I have just bought a 1999 p38 2.5 dse. Drives lovely but concerned about a couple of things. When I get to a steep hill it really struggles (unless I'm on a normal a road) I have a hill by me with a 180 degree corner, and when I get to the corner I have to get into first gear and ride the clutch for a bit before I let it up completely (once I'm moving fast enough) have stalled before now. Was told it had some performance clutch but not sure if this is the problem. Only other thing I can think is it has a synergy 4 tuning box on it, which I think is set on highest it will go, but can't really tell. All I know is I can be driving along normally and after a few seconds of accelerating slowly it picks up really quick, so may try unplugging the box and see how it fairs. It is a manual by the way. Any other ideas? :)

Its not really got enough power for the size of car. Synergy box will help some.
The higher the settings on these boxes the more abrupt it is.
If you unplug it, make sure you unplug every one and plug original cables back together. It really doesn't like it if partially connected.

Check the small hose that connects to the nipple on the underside of the air intake manifold and goes up to a little black box of tricks on top of the passenger side wheel arch. If that is blocked, split or is not connected the car will become very lethargic..........

map sensor bolted to the side if your fuel filter?

If you have a box on your wheel arch its not standard and is a power box connected into the engine loom behind the pump and the small pipe should go to the MAP on the fuel filter

Yes, the box is marked synergy 4. Have unplugged it and put it to standard and I seem to have a steady amount of power up the revs, don't get the randomly placed power kicking in. Will try it like this and see if it's better, have checked pipework and all looks nice and solid. :)
