Probably been asked before but can you chip or remap the BMW diesel. If so anyone done it and to what effect...smoother, faster better torque or a waste of money. I know a rechip on the TD5 makes a real difference without hitting fuel economy so whats the crack on P38's?

yes you can chip it,but the easiest way is to get a power box or something similar and fit one of those.plenty of info if you do a search on the forum.

Try Rimmer Bros, Digital Powerbox 2. I have an older version, works well. A re-map would probably be better, but more expensive. Do a search, lots of info on this.

No smoke on mine with the Powerbox except when it has been plodded around for a while and then I give it some stick. My Transit is the same so I think that's probably normal. Both passed the French emmisions test no problem.

Many thanks ........now:eek: what about the EAS is everything they say true:eek:
Personally there seems so many on the road LRO must have bought a real duffer as their project RR!

EAS is OK in my opinion, just needs preventive maintenance. New airbags (not expensive) before they start to leak and knacker the compressor, overhaul the solenoid block and carry an EAS kicker if you are nervous, or a laptop and the free RSW Solutions software.:D:D:D

Did the powerbox improve mpg at all, or make it worse?

Is there a noticable difference once a powerbox is fitted?

mine has had a superchip, but as already mentioned it does tend to overfuel and smoke a bit, i dont mind that though!!!
It does make the diesels more driveable and better around town, i didnt notice any fuel saving, well not financially anyway but the computer does read a couple of mile per gallon better.

Fuel consumption is good with the power box fitted, certainly no worse than Land Rovers claimed figures, although if you have a very heavy right foot that may not be the case.

The car feels a lot more powerful and driveable with the power box:D

These sites that sell the powerbox all recommend upgrading the air filter, is this entirely necessary or just a way of getting an extra £70 or so out of us?
