I have just changed the steering knuckle ball joints including new sensors, left hand side first and It went ok, did 70 miles Saturday and all was well, changed the right side yesterday and today and new sensor as well, went to test tonight and when moving the brake pedal is right at the top and juddering with no real braking power, when stopped the brake works normally, no warning lights or anything.
If I have pushed the sensor in just a little too far could that have caused the problem? I thought I had it just right but maybe a bit to far. Anybody had anything like this before?

You cannot push the sensor in too far, it must touch the reluctor ring initially, it will self adjust as the wheel rotates.

Sounds like the ABS is operating as the sensor is not picking up the wheel rotation. As Wammers said, the sensor is not pushed in far enough. It could also be a duff sensor.

All fixed. the reluctor ring was cracked and loose on the cv joint and had gone out of view of the sensor, it was pretty rusty but cleaned up ok, a cheap ring from the bay fitted and it calibrated in a few yards and brakes work fine now. If I have the sensors out in the future I will just check the reluctor rings are not loose.

Not the first with a cracked reluctor ring. What year is yours?
