Any Nanocom for P38 should read the SRS system. Only the engine ECU's require unlock codes. If you want to pop up to Langley I could take a quick look. No promises on fixes though.

Most likely it's a bad connection on one of the seat airbags, steering wheel clock spring. Do all the buttons on the wheel work ?

Langley as in slough, and most of the button work on the steering wheel

Yes.

BTW, as well as one of the connectors, it could also be a bulb failure in the cluster. There's two bulbs, & if one fails the other SRS light stays on.

Just find all the srs plugs and hard wire them anyway.
Have a client with a 2000 38'. Serious water ingress in the past. We just took all the connectors out for the srs system. Put an end to that issue. Check the bulbs and replace all of them while you've got the clocks out. 👍
