Hi all can anybody help me my range rover p38 diesel it keeps cutting out like a diesel starvation or an air leak and it also sounds like my pump is buzzing its tits off when ignition is on any help much apprichiated thanks in advance

sounds perhaps like the famous split pipe in the lift pump in the tank.
is the tank < 1/4 full?

about that yeah how can i test it how will i know??

Fill the tank that will prove if it's the split pipe problem. Otherwise disconnect the inlet pipe to the filter, place bucket undet the end, remove the fuel pump relay, apply 12 volts to the connector that has it's orientation at right angles to the others, look for fuel coming out. At least I think that's what Wammers said:eek:

disconnected the outlet pipe from filter to pump and diesel is shooting out just had it running sound turned the engine off no buzzing from the pump then started again running for about 5 mins ticking over then it cut out and now ive got a buzzing from the pump on the engine.

thanks for the info lads after all that it was a dodgey fuel pump relay changed it round for another 1 and now she running sweet again

What pump on the engine, there isn't one on the engine. Unless you mean the injector pump, if your getting a buzzing check connections to fuel shutoff valve.

hi all is it a big job to change the fuse box? myn smels

No it's not a big job but DO IT NOW before it causes you major and expensive grief.

New fusebox only about £150 and they seem to last about 8 - 10 years so it's not bad value. Then, if you want to do the job properly, replace all of the relays.
