P38 cruise control **newbie**

Hi all
just bought a 1997 P38. there are one or two niggles but for the money i paid i am not too bothered

i have a cruise control issue though
i turn on the cruise with the motorway type switch. however when i try to set the speed with the steering wheel button nothing happens. no constant speed. in fact absolutely nothing.

is it a common thing on this age or is it just totall knackered?

Hi carl,

im certainly no expert on these matters but i had a similar problem and the hose had split on the back of the valve that controls it above the eas unit. it might be worth checking these are all connected properly and with no splits in them. i also got told with mine that the ecu that controls it can pack up often to to luckly i never had that problem.

It works using a vacuum controlled system - if there are any splits in the vacuum hoses then it won't function - that'd be the first thing I'd check - anything after that gets technical, so eliminate the simple things first.
