Otherwise known as suicide doors, I thought they were banned years ago by the construction and use regs:D

Funny you should say that because i thought exactly the same. Think of the carnage if a kid or anyone else for that matter opens one and a passing vehicle hits it. Surely it can't be right to allow them.

Essentials for good EAS. Four good airbags, four good sensors with linier output (easy to test), good compressor.
Contrary to popular belief ECU rarely fails.
Same with driver pack.
Valve block easy to repair.
Very good supply of second hand bits available.
Any EAS can be sorted for far less than a spring convertion.
IF you know what your doing.

wammers i admit the air suspension when it is in fine fettle,is a fine piece of engineering, much more refined than coils, however i hold my hands up and admit some of it is a bit baffling to the average joe,i find it difficult as i could do with a ramp to have a good look underneath, and trace all the leaks,i have the eas reset tool, which will also read all faults,i do not understand the system well enough yet,to interpret what it is telling me,but i am learning all the time,i think it is the same old thing, too bloody complicated.

In point of fact its not bad for what it is, a clever little car "fit for purpose" as they say. The rear seats can slide back for extra legroom if you've nothing in the boot, its got lots of little cubbies to hide things in, safety rating's good and its economical. Opel in Germany is also offering what they call a Lifetime Guarantee. Bit ominous if you're hoping to live longer than 3 years but still! Main attraction of the rear doors is about how wide they open making it easy to get things like a baby car seat in and out.

ps. they were called suicide doors because designers who employed them tended to minimise or do away with the B pillar for aesthetic reasons which wasn't very good in side impacts or a roll...
