Hi all
just bought my first p38,its a 2000 on a w 4.0 hse with lpg :)
im working my way through the little list of niggles one of which was the clock keep loseing time,i put it to bottom of list and moved on to something more important, the stereo was locked.so dissconected the battery and thought would check battery while i was there,i found the battery to be knackered (64%) altho if i hadnt checked it i wouldnt have known,no starting issues or anything else.anyway replaced the battery and as if by magic, the clock is keeping time, another job ticked off list :D oh and the stereo works;)
i know the clock is alot cheaper to replace than a battery but a clock loseing time could be the nudge you need to check battery condition as we all know wot p38 are like if the battery dies

Doh...............yes "dead" I know - but does it do something nasty to the computer etc.???? Re-setting the key code for the radio I can manage!

If you get low voltage all sorts of error messages arrive on dash, buzzers start buzzing, and bleepers start bleeping. Even if there is still enough juice to start the car. P38s do not like low voltage in battery or low output from alternator. If you disconnect the battery the wrong way you may need the EKA code to rest the alarm. You will also have to reset the radio code, all the windows to anti trap and the sunroof, if you have one, everytime the battery is disconnected. Best advice is if you fit a new battery fit the largest capacity one you can find that will fit in the battery bay.
