sounds like the latch is getting stuck, i think theres a micro switch on the bonnet latch, might be easier to get a replacement from scrappy. it might just need freeing off tho! or connections cleaning on m/switch

Might have popped on one side. Get a small vice grip and pull the cables gently in the drivers footwell to pop both sides or to find if one has snapped. If one has snapped there is another thread on here on opening a bonnet with snapped cables.

The microswitch is on the battery side catch and needs a bit of stripping to get to. My micro switch broke off the latch over 2 years ago so I put a clothes peg on the microswitch which is still there since.

Yeah, thats what happen now. Can I have the link on how to open a bonnet with snapped cables?

I had this problem a couple of days ago when I inadvertently pulled one of the cable runs to the off side latch when putting on a new battery. The only way I found was to wedge open the bonnet from the near side with a piece of wood. This gave me enough room to get a small ratchet with a Phillips socket and remove the grill. Then using a 10 mm spanner remove the spring and lug assembly from the bonnet. It takes time as you can only move the bolts about a quarter of a turn each time until it detaches and up comes the bonnet. The problem then presented itself and was only the cable housing that had come away from the latch assembly. Hope this helps someone out.
