its a P38 deisel manual (BMW engine) and its back in the garage for 3rd time in 2 month but with different problem..

The radiator blew up... split stright down the top edge and shot hot water 6ft up in the air.. Guessing its a pressure build up... Anyone know what could be the cause?

Welcome to the P38 Diesel overheating club!

No good news here I'm afraid. At very best you had a bad airlock but in all likelyhood its as Datatek said above, whopefully 'just' a blown head gasket with no more damage.

Start with checking posts by Wills and geekfreak, they've both well documented their travels through the steamy waters of split radiators.
I personally just handed over a load of dosh to a specialist to replace the whole cooling system (including head and block but that is a real worst case scenarion).
