p38 auto trouble

ive noticed that when i try to select low ratio on the auto box i get a fookin annoying buzzer sounding and a flashing light which id imagine is gearbox with a big **** off X thru it.

i have drive,although i havent tried to see how far, i dont wanna fry something.

now by the looks of the underside of the car, id say its never seen any action off the blackstuff, so im thinking/hoping its a duff ecu, but if it aint its gonna be the txb?? how much of a **** is it to fix and at what cost???

any help would be appreciated

Only guessing, but it sounds like the transfer box shift motor is not doing the business. Probably seized if it's never been used, or could be a bad connection to the motor.:confused:
 
Are you leaving it in Neutral long enough?

Without meaning to teach you how to suck eggs (I think that's the expression!) you need to leave it in Neutral until the buzzing and flashing stops, then select whatever low ratio gear you want. Need to use the same procedure changing back to high ratio. This is to give the transfer box time to switch ratios.

Do you get a message on the message jobbie? I'd expect it to say something like 'Select Neutral'.

I made this mistake when I first started using mine - then I read the manual.

cheers kooky, im completley new 2 rr so didnt know about the change time allowance...thats the reason 4 this post! Thought id have been able tn jurpt lock n load!
 
sorry the last bit shud have read, would be able to just lock n load! Bloody crap fone anyways, good news the tractor passed mot so im off out later for a trial run, wil let u know how i get on
