hi all, my gear knob has got a crack in the plastic trim where the screw holds it in, does anyone know if your able to buy this plastic trim piece or the part number as i know it does pop off from the gear knob.(any really anal about the jobs needed doing at the mo, as there isnt many, touch wood!!!) thanks.

The plastic insert is not listed separately, only the screw.
The insert itself is prone to cracking if the securing screw is overtightened and is a common issue. The only solution is to try and get just the insert from a breakers for a few pence or get the complete knob for a few ££££'s
:behindsofa:

just an update, i managed to get a near new genuine leather gear knob with the plastic insert intact for £22 including p+p! pretty chuffed as i saw the price of a new leather one and was quite shocked!!

Hi, first time poster here.. I have a 2002 HSE, living in Dubai. The plastic trigger or lever in my auto gear knob broke so I had to remove it. (Currently pushing down on the bar with my thumb to switch gears) Could I replace just the plastic trigger alone or do I just need a new one? There are a couple on ebay for £45 and £75 which is more than I want to pay. Any ideas? Where did you source yours in the end tommo? Cheers

If you live in Dudai getting one should not be a problem. Just find a Rangie an Arab shiek has abandoned when the ashtray got full, and take one out of that.

hi, i managed to get mine off ebay in the end(replaced the whole gear knob), some guy was just selling off his spare parts, do a search on there, one might turn up, a brand new leather slector in about £70ish if i remember correctly.

Cheers for the reply Tommo, currently checking with breakers yards here and keeping an eye on eBay - was quoted £100 for a new one from the suppliers locally so not going to do that.
