Yeah I was off driving into the countryside last night finding snowing hilly lanes to get stuck in - not even close - the old girl breezed everything this ham-footed operator could chuck at it. I was very impressed with the General Grabber ATs despite them not being "proper" winter tyres, the car felt unstoppable - superb.

Cool stuff !

yep i tried to take some dodgy roads and hills to test the old girl but i couldnt get her stuck ! lol very hard to spin the wheels infact !

i think the massive weight of the car helps with the traction :p
hehe

We had around 6 inches in North London! Drove my uncle to the station in his Honda CRV in the morning ... Apparently it has part time automatic 4wd??? Was slipping and sliding all over the place!

Took the P38 out as soon as I got back (didn't want to play in his car) ... But the beast wouldn't budge an inch out of line ... Even found a hill where loads of cars had been abandoned and it went up without even having to shift into low range ... And on ordinary tyres too ...!!!!

Do I really need an L322??? Hmmm

The CRV should cope okayish depending on the tyres fitted. Probably road biased tyres, which can make semi-awd cars trickier to drive in the snow than front wheel drive because the rear drive kicking in and out causes the car to start going sideways at both ends.

As for not needing low range - I should hope not! You should be using the tallest gear possible in the snow to reduce torque at the wheels preventing wheelspin, for autos "snow mode" usually locks the car in 3rd gear for this reason.

i was in about 8-9 inches of snow pulling out a mondeo that was stuck dragged the mondeo up a steep hill in reverse not even the slightest hint of the wheels beginning to spin was impressed

P38 se. cant even pull handle out as it that thats frozen up

Doesn't sound right, it's not that cold in the UK! Warm the handle with warm water, then once it's free cover the internals with WD40 to force the water out and stop it refreezing.

Biggest prob i got is leave home at 6.30 am and dont usualy get home till 8pm so it below freezing. the snow on roof started to melt, run down and refreeze. not too fussed as ill sort it friday night as that when it be used next.
