Hi folk's, newby here!

Can anyone offer any help as to why the handbrake warning light might be staying on in my 1998 4.6 HSE P38? Secondly when moving off from stationary I get three beeps for some reason? Sorry I'm sure these questions have been raised before but I haven't been able to find them within the forum. Only have the car a couple of months and am well into returning her to what she is supposed to be but these two niggles have me stumped! Got some great advice regarding the wandering nature of the steering and am going to tackle this with a neighbour at the weekend! great having a mechanic as a neighbour!! Thanks for your patience!

On the Discovery it also gives a tell-tale for low brake fluid in the master cylinder, dunno about the P38 tho ...

Hi Jim and welcome.

Have you got RAVE? If not you need to download a copy now! It is free. Think there is a link in the Technical Section but the link is something like http://www.landroverresource.com/

The handbrake has a couple of wires for the switch down the side of it but you'll have to take the centre box out to access it. Doesn't take long. I'd have a gander down there first and see if anything has come unclipped.

Or become nipped and shorted ...

Try again Grrrrr, I'm getting Database error using that link. I need Rave asap.

Check the brake fluid resovoir multiplug i connected. I'd done some work on mine and needed to take that plug off, forgot to put it back on and the warning light and message 'low brake fluid' and associated bleeps started up. finally found it, plugged it back in and all ok again. Even if it's connected it may be worth giving it a clean.
