I’m sure everyone reading this will be shocked to hear that the EAS on my 99 P38 has developed a fault! Long story short it needs a new compressor and although the air bags are holiday air the rear ones are in a bad way.

The local Landy specialist has quoted me £400 for a new pump and £120 for each air bag. His comment was you can get cheaper pumps for about £150 but they are poor quality.

He’s also quoted me £650 to get rid of the EAS and just put it on springs.

Does the pricing sound reasonable. The pump just seems a bit pricey or am I just better with the springs? It seems a shame but they are at least reliable!

Don’t go springs:)

Some here sells good cheap compressor for sale often.

Airbag price I don't know, but guys on here will advise.

But make sure you have no leaks in pipes first.

It’s a diy job if you are handy:)

Good luck.

Air springs are reasonably priced at Island 4x4, the compressor can be repaired using a kit cost about £25. If you go on facebook and message Iain Mckee he breaks and repairs P38's and does pumps valve blocks and BECM's all overhauled and very reasonably priced.or visit his facebook page We R Range Rover P38s.

Just done rear bags 1hr 15 mins start to finish. Bags and new clips £115 from island 4x4 ,that includes vat and postage Have priced up fronts exactly same
Replaced compressor last year think was about £100 new with warranty (10 minute job) Think someone is pulling your plonker over costs

It can cost what you were quoted and they gave you all your options which is fair of them.

Kurt is our pump guy, he will get you quality unit for fraction of that.
Bags aren’t too bad but fiddly if you’ve not done them before. Get Dunlop’s or whatever island 4x4 have don’t get cheap part ones

If that’s all your system needs I don’t think ripping it out for coil conversion is necessary
