So by then the system is full without the need for the compressor to draw the gas round.

No it is not. Gas is fed into the low pressure side, initially pulled in by the vacuum. When there is sufficient pressure the compressor starts up and fills the high pressure side fed by pressure from the gas bottle. There are segments on the gauges that indicate low normal and high pressure. You continue to fill until the gauge shows high on green normal zone but just short of red overfill zone. You then close low pressure valve to stop fill and disconnect gauges. Done it many times. Of course you do have to have the filling gauges and pipes along with a vacuum pump.

" As gas is ingested compressor should start up and distribute gas around system LP valve is then closed when normal green line gauge pressure is obtained. Job done".
Point 1. The compressor will not start until the correct working pressure is achieved., So you may run the engine but the compressor will not "distribute the gas around he system".
Point 2. The gas is supplied in a bottle under pressure and is fed via a regulator into a vacuum, the laws of physics suggest it can find it's own way in with out the aid of the compressor.

It will when minimum pressure is reached.
Sorry Keith but you don't have a clue what you are talking about.

Funny that everyone who has commented has said the system was refilled without the engine running.
My mate with the Volvo garage fills them without the engine running. I leave it at that, you obviously have your own special way of doing things.
One of the advantages of being a happy amateur as you put it is an open mind without some fixed idea that may have been implanted decades ago.

With the new machine maybe but not the equipment I have and many still use. I have explained how it is done properly. Please yourself what you do.

High pressure gas will go into a vacuum whatever machine is used it even works from a can.
You have explained your way of doing it which seems to be different from the rest of the world.

I will I am correct, why do you insist in arguing about things you know nothing about.
You are correct only in your own eyes, the majority do not do it your way and that includes my mate who showed me the fill procedure.
Must be hard doing everything differently to everyone else.
Unlike you, I do not know everything about everything, but I'm pretty good at finding out what I need to know and applying it..
