I dont like Qwik fit but they offer a refill of aircon for £50 and if it leaks no cost.
When they started to fill it leaked from the thinner high pressure pipe that sits just under the air filter box. Here is a bracket to keep the two pipes in place. Its leaking at this junction. Have a small hole in the thinner high pressure line at this junction. Now the say they can repair the pipe and refill for £80, but how easy is it to repair this pipe

Easy if you have the equipment, ie AC TIG welder and the neccessary skills. I doubt Quick Fit have either of these so they will probably apply somekind of chemical metal to the hole. Dont sound good to me.

Take the pipe off, send it to me with enough postage to cover the return, and if it can be welded I will do it for you.

Don't let anyone near the car with an electric welder, for sure it will blow one or more of the ECU's:eek::eek:

welding is the best option next to replacement that is!! i read somewhere that parts of the system can reach 245 psi (i think it cuts out at this point for over pressure)

my classic cuts out at 350 psi on r134a

Tested my spare condenser as work today at 400psi , it held for 3 hours without problem and then I disconnected (IE it didnt blow lol)

I have just had the air conditioning re-charged on my P38 - the guy was really nice and a little envious on the condition of my P38 (I only got it last week) - we couldn't find any leaks but we also couldn't get the fans working (too cold) - so I am hoping it will be ok.

The guy covers all of West Sussex - Welcome to AirCon ReGas - West Sussex - 07796 917118 - Fully mobile service

The fans rarely operate in my experience unless the car is idling in a traffic jam in 30 degrees C:D

As Datatek says it's unlikely that the fans will come on unless it's really hot.
The P38 has the condenser at the front of the engine cooling radiator and the engine fan draws the cooling outside air through the condenser before it gets to the engine radiator. Result is that the condenser gets cooled and the warmer air then passes through the engine radiator.....crazy way of doing things and no doubt related in some cases to the numerous "Overheating" posts on the forum.
