P38 abs sensors ( 2001 4.0L ).

Any recommendations for abs sensors ( front and rear ), prices seem to range from £30 to £400? Have just replaced rear brake lines and after a test drive now have traction failure and abs lights on. Nanocom says rear sensor electrical failure rear right and sensor voltage page says no voltage on the rear left. Am I correct in thinking that the nanocom sometimes gives conflicting results regarding position of failed sensors ( or is it me having a senior moment?). When the rain has stopped I will check the resistance across the sensors to find out where the issue lies.
 
Wait for the rain and take physical measurements of each sensor as you say. This will confirm the Nanos findings. As for price get the best you can and only replace what you need to.
Buy from a known shop and not an eBay special.... ;)

That Nanocom issue has been resolved with a firmware update for over several years now.
Update your firmware to the most recent version.
 
Had some time to get some readings and each of the abs sensors are reading about 980 ohms. Have checked voltage to each sensor and each one is registering 5v. Have just checked continuity from the sensor plug to the connector that plugs into the abs ecu and the readings are all constant at 1.3 ohms. However if the nanocom schematic is correct pin 1 and 5 appear to be the wrong way around? Should I swap the pins around in the plug? Any ideas gratefully received

Nanocom is probably wrong, there was a known problem which was fixed with a firmware update.
Pins do not swap themselves, so unless someone has interfered with the connector, the pins will be in the correct place and should not be changed.
 
I'm wondering if you have an intermittently failing sensor like I've had? My voltages were all correct but nanocom said no voltage on the right rear but 5 vdc were present.
My abs and tc lights were initially intermittent and now permently on, traced to an open circuit on the os rear. Your abs sensor might be in-between working(when you test them) and finally failing when you're not testing. Long shot/ clutching straws.
 
Thanks for that Flossie. Electrical diagnostics aren’t really my thang? So any ideas are gratefully recieved! Saturday afternoons are my allotted p38 time so as soon as the working week is over I will get the multimeter out and swap some sensors over to see if the fault moves around.
 
Managed to spend some time on the p38 today. Found an old ABS ecu in my treasure trove of stripped parts from a donor vehicle. Swapped it over and all faults gone. Haven’t managed to take it for a test drive yet as there is 5 tonnes of driveway gravel in front of it ( job for tomorrow )!

ah put it in low range and drive over the gravel lol
