Hello All
I have had my 2002 vogue se for 3.5 years I have improved it over the years but have one fault left which you may be able to help me with.
I have a vibration or resonance at exactly 1100 RPM and 1900 RPM. The car sounds harsh when you pass through 1100 and 1900. It is only very slight when the engine is not under power. It does not do it when the air temperature is very cold.
I suspect it is an exhaust resonance because it is there at standstill and increases with engine power. I have changed all the exhaust including the cats for second hand items, still the same.
Some of the American forums describe exactly the same thing with aftermarket exhausts, my exhaust is completely standard so is it a design fault?
I would be very interested to find out if it is a Thor only problem because the Gems cats and exhaust were slightly different.
If you could do my simple test and let me know I would be very grateful.
TEST – stand on the brakes with your left foot , put it in gear D or R , now while firmly holding the brakes gently rev the engine with your right foot between 1000 to 1200 RPM. Is there a vibration at exactly 1100 that you can hear and feel through the floor?
Thank You

Won't do that test as I want tokeep what I have left of my gearbox. I have had various vibrations with my year 2000 4.6 Thor. The worst was the flex plate going. Replaced the transfer gearbox and torque converter and flex plate and smooth as silk. But lately I have an exhaust issue. Mine has been de cated (live in Isle of Man so OK) and the cheep rear boxes are going after two years (same as last time) so there is now a resonance. In fact if you take your foot of on the motorway at over 70 I get a howl. Sounds great though!! could just be something like that.
Other: New spark plugs. air filter etc
Second hand cats? not recommended.
