Hi just been having a look at removing my rad but it looks like everything is in the way, so i looked on rave but it only seems to tell me how to remove a newer rr rad, my top cowling is broken off but the fan seems to be in the way of getting the bottom bit off and the tranny pipes also seem to be very tight agains the cowling, please tell me it's easy! anyone know how these slip out???
any help would be wonderful
thanks
lets hope my new britpart rad doesn't split up the top too,
cheers guys

It does just slip out with relative ease. It's been a while bit IIRC:

Drain coolant from the bottom

remove the top panel and disconnect the rad's from the front of the coolant rad, leave them where they are.

disconnect top and bottom hose (leave stat housing on rad)

Disconnect screen wash filler neck and PAS reservoir

Undo bolts down the side of the rad (you may need a 14mm spanner to the other side.

The rad should slide out....be very careful not to twist it.....the metal is crimped around the plastic and the seal breaks really easily.

Richieb,

There is a cover over the fan. You have to manoeuvre the rad past as it catches at the bottom.

There is a bolt at the bottom of the rad on each side. These were a pain to undo as they get very corroded. In the end I had to cut through the tough plastic housing of the old rad to get them to shift.

Those were the only hassles I had.

If you have any of the old press/pinch type circlips (I can't remember if that is the correct name - mind lapse, sorry) on the hoses, change them for the screw type, much easier to do up when reconnecting the hoses.

The worst part is getting the old one out. The new one goes in with ease.

Hope that helps
