as above, got an oil leak and it seems to come from the oil filter. now my problem is i cannot 100% confirm this as there is a nut near where the filter joins the engine block and i cannot see anything above the nut/filter with all the pipes.

i can change the filter and check the nut above but is there anything above these that i can check while filter is off or is it most likely to be the filter and a service will cure it?

Thaks in advance!

I have had a brand new oil filter leak from around the seam before. Fit a new filter first-they are cheap enough and easy to change.

TY for that, I am hoping that will cure it, its my first RR and having worked on many cars before i'm confidents at most jobs but it takes time to get to know the car!!!

after fiddling with the installed alpine stereo, only drivers side speakers working, wires loose, i found a plastic 'case' with a motor and cog in it on a circuit board. looks like a blend motor that some one has broken. i moved the cog bit that was attached to the circuit board and the heater is on hot now and i cant turn it off with the controls on the console. could i have changed a setting by doing this?

a/c not working book displayed in lcd, how do i get the error code

all help greatfully recieved, cheers guys

Need to replace the blend motor-not a nice job. They come in a set of 3 but you may be able to buy just one if you don't want to change the others but I suggest you change all 3. Set of 3 costs around £150 from a dealer but you may get them off Egay. Don't buy second hand-if one is faulty you have double the work. The motors will have to be recalibrated using either Test Book, Autologic or Rovacom by either a dealer or independant. More info here Range Rovers have a look under Blend Motor Replacement.

Hi, I had a similar-looking oil leak - oil running down the outside of the filter & blowing back under the engine & suspension. traced to R.H rocker cover screws loose letting oil seap down front of block then down outside of filter.
I found the 2 accessible rocker cover screws slack on both banks - note that you have to remove inlet manifold to get at the other screws. Might be worth checking?

thanks guys, i will be getting it on the lift in the morning so i can see whats what, tonite i blew a hose, whoever had attacked the car before me had put on some kind of 'garden' hose, it had perished and disintegrated in my hand!! easily solved with a makeshift flexi tap connector hose till morning and i can replace with real hose!!! the lengths some people go too!!!!

leak fixed, twas the oil pressure switch tucked behind the fan belt tensioner and above the oil filter.

a bit fiddly to do but if you take the hose off that joins to the plastic 't' piece at the bottom of the rad and reach it with a 26mm spanner!!

well done me!! no drips on my car whatsoever!!!!!!!!!!

Fair play Gavs-thanks for the info. It will help others who may have the same problem. Too may people post their problems and don't bother to reply with a fix and this sort of info is what the forums are all about despite how trivial it may seem.

its the little 'knack' of doing a job that sometimes can be the difference between diy and a huge bill at the main dealer etc. in fairness though i would recommend use of a lift/pit as apposed to roadside job as i got p*ss wet through when i removed the hose without draining water first, saves time and its not my lift lol!!! and 'uncle in law' has millions of years experience as a mechanic, VERY little on RR's though, and advised how he would tackle it then let me get on with it.

if anyone needs a bit of advice on this job let me know as there are some bits that took a bit of fiddling but i found it in the end and could prolly save em a bit of time and oil/water in the armpit!!!

oil switch was only £11 and is/was a 22mm instead of the 26mm original/one that was installed on mine.
