Hello.

Yesterday I concluded that my fuel injection pump was leaking from the top cover.
Have had problems with air entering the system making starting when cold hard without running the lift pump first manually or by cycling the ignition three times.

Today I removed the pump and changed every seal I could find. Hopefully the last time for quite a while.

I timed it and set idle at 750-ish rpm. All good.

After I've cleaned everything up and ran the engine to check for leaks I noticed the 4th injector was bleeding a bit. Blew away the fuel with compressed air and sure enough it kept on coming after a while. The leak off hoses are in good condition so I think the sensor is leaking.

Now, my engine is a little mysterious, VIN number says its a 1999, but I don't have EGR or MAF which means it is the early type. This was discovered in my earlier thread.

Now, my problem begins. When browsing for a new injector there are two kinds.
One earlier that fits 94-98 and one later for 98-02.
I suspect it's the early one I need. I'm not 100% sure but I think I saw that the connector was white today. Is it that easy?

What difference is it between the two anyway?

Only the connector, the early one has a white one but can be fitted to the later vehicles if you modify the locking ears on the connector. Or is it the later can be fitted to the earlier by moding the connector.stick with the white connector and you should be fine

I think they are interchangeable if you swap the connector. Seem to remember @Datatek swapped from an earlier to a later car with no issues so early one should do.

I got a new #4 from Eurocarparts for £70 but may have got lucky on one of their deals.

A bit strange this. At Island 4 x 4 STC2290 (white plug early version) is £193.99 STC4218 (later version) is £215.98. So later is dearer. At Rimmers. STC2290 is £538.27 and STC4218 is £509.87. So later version is less. Funny old world we live in.
But it yet again shows that so called genuine Land rover prices are totally and utterly off scale.
