p38 2.5 parked height

Hi I'm Interested in buying an old p38 that's come up for sale local to me. Before I go and view it one thing I've noticed in the ad pics is that it looks like it's sat very low. Is that normal for a parked range rover? Or is that a parked setting you select when you park up? Looking on google images I can't find another that's parked and looks quite this low.

The p38 has four hieght settings accses =lowest , motorway, normal, and high off road, check it goes to all settings when comanded all doors and bonnet & boot must be shut, accses hand brake on .

Look in my EAS thread in tech archive. All heights are listed in that. Take a tape measure. It will possibly be sat either on the bump stops or at access height. Make sure the EAS works.

Could have an airleak and settled when parked.

If you provide a link to the advert we could probably scrutinise it before you view.

veiwed it...found air leak in rear air spring but other than that very clean and genuine....knocked owner down a bit in price...bought it
full service history spotless underneath no rot any where, shiny on top, just a few jobs to do(air spring and drag link) and i should have a very clean looking usable 1994 p38

Change air springs or as a set don't just do one, if ones gone the others may not be far behind
also the pump and valve block would probably do with a rebuild kit as they have been feeding a leak, its not a hard job and cheep, if I am correct in wammers tech thread is the rave manuals download them if you haven't already they are the landrover workshop manuals and invaluable, well done on the new purchase and we will probably here from you soon with the next bits to fix.

quite surprised at how clean it is underneath for a 21 year old car. are most p38's pretty good at that sort of age?

P38s rarely rust away....they are by far the most rust proof Land Rover.....its just all the electrical gubbins that is the fun part...

Also to note.... If yours is a diesel, take a llok a d see if they have relocated the gearbox oil cooler, reason is the diesels werent fitted with fogs as the cooler sits behind where they are.

Will do little harm but if you tow, off road or are enthusiastic in your driving you may need to get it moved to prevent the box feom overheating and check the condition of the gearbox fluid to ensure it isnt burnt.

Ordered the air shocks and drag link track rod today looking forward to getting it all working as it should. Was under it while mate wiggled steering wheel yesterday and he managed to get nearly two inches of steering wheel movement before any road wheel movement. Think previous mot was a fifty pound note left in ash tray for tester job.

Thought the first ones were '95? Those indicators are later.

Said in advert clear indicators so I guess they aren't originals

I recently bought one which had been modded to have coil springs thinking it was more reliable than the air system, but have researched it and the air shocks give a much better ride and are adjustable for different situations and as previously mentioned the kits to overhaul the pump and valve block are inexpensive.

More hassle is the electrical and electronic side, I have taken half the car apart trying to sort the non working radio, trying to get a good wiring diagram now to get to the bottom of it!
