does every p38 alarm fault come up on dash soon you put the key in ??

the n/s/f dorr doesnt lock with central locking ( going to strip down to have a look some time) but is there a high chance of it being the lock ??

i the same as everyone hate ppl ask the same Q's over and over so sorry if they been asked before thanks

also one more thing a bigger inter cooler much much diffeance on these?? thanks

Hi Swan, Dont get an error code on my 96 manual,,, but do have the same prob with left front door lock but its intermitent, so a bugger to find.

P38s are like "troph wives", wonderful to have around and great to show off to your mates but high maintainance and a pain in the ass,,, but ya gota have one lol lol lol

No you shouldn't have an alarm warning.

Whilst you've got the door stripped grab the chance to lubricate all of the mechanism, I found that spray copper grease worked well for me but just be careful of the electrical connections. If you don't find the fault then have a look at the wiring from the door into the body. Wires can break and connectors can get corroded.

Before you start on the intercooler (which will give a bit of improvement) there are a lot of other things that should be done. Full service, check turbo pipes, check MAF sensor, in-tank and injector pumps, leak-off pipes, EGR, have the injectors ever been overhauled. Then after all that you might want to think of a powerbox, then a bigger intercooler, if you've got any money left!!!

hahaha thanks guys , only think about putting the bigger intercooler on because the old one got a slight split in it so was going to repair it or maybe put a bigeer one in but they like £300 + so not really worth it then ,

egr can i blank it off on the manifold or is it better to get the kit £40+

is there away of getting an alarm code up or is it plug in job?? ps where is the plug in ???

have a smiler problem here too... "alarm fault" on dash most of the time everything works fine but now and again when i get out of the car and remotely lock it will bleep as if a door was open or something...
Then the real pain is sometimes when i've sat in the car for a bit...waiting for the wife to come back from the shops (engine off) key left in ignition, try to start but just keeps turning over.....?? get out lock and arm the car, wait 20 sec, unlock get back in and it will start....?????

ive seen somewhere that this can be caused by the interior sensors (above passengers seat between doors) going wrong.... not tried this yet but will do....quite a cheap replacement from flebay....!!!
