hi,back in december i had a new clutch fitted, however when i tried to remove starter motor it was a bitch to get off one nut just refused to budge,do you have to remove starter motor to do clutch? i assume you would, and why was that so hard to get off i have hardly used it since clutch was done, hardly covered 200 miles.
i am starting to wonder if the clutch was done at all.
clutch does not slip now,but still grinds on second gear.
garage replaced clutch master cylinder while they had it.

Yes you do, as the starter motor bolts go in the clutch housing and that needs to come off to fit new clutch.

As I remember, the starter motor can be quite a bitch to get off, but it certainly can be done.

If you have spent money on a new clutch etc, and you're still experiencing problems, take it back and tell them!

How do you mean grinds on second gear? If you mean coming down from third to second that will be a baulk ring worn. Nothing to do with clutch.

ok how much of a bitch is the baulk ring to do,or is that a new gearbox(second hand)

A baulk ring will be about £8.00 or so from memory, but box needs stripping to do it. Not a DIY job. If it's graunching into second sliders will be worn on hub also more than likely.
