Hi,
Already own a classic, well more than one but only 1 on the road.

Tempted by a P38 2.5 diesel auto. I know about all the issues a P38 can have so don't need to go into that!

Just wondering if there is a preference between the pre and post '99 diesel models?

Thanks

Well, from the hot-start perspective and various other niggles then post '99 is a better bet. From the lack of EGR and other associated bollocks I prefer my '95!

A V8 on LPG is about the same to run. The head gaskets go at around 120k miles but then the FIP goes on the diesel shortly afterwards so it is swings and roundabouts.

Not keen on lpg. Prefer the car to be standard....which includes one that hasn't been changed to coil springs!

So no real advantage or disadvantage to either pre or post '99. Suppose it's best to buy on condition.
