I have recently purchased a P38. Since acquiring it and browsing the web. I am beginning to wish I had n't.
Overheating ? Caused by excursing cylinder sleeves / Caused by too much optimism on the part of production designers
Used to have a Safari 2A forty years ago. When I was ' young and stupid ' Stupid enough to drag out the Rover 2286cc Diesel and install a Perkins 6 354 Marvellous job. But ? Oh dear. Now the wings will no longer bolt back on.
And in buying the P38, I appear not to have ' lived and learnt ' Gaudeamus igitur
 
Frightfully decent of you to say so. When I first got the email. I thought.
Oh God. Somebody is going to ask me something about the 6 354 conversion I did forty years ago.
Would n't be very helpful as all I remember is problem with wings.
In any event. A very ' old hat ' conversion by contemporary standards.
Still have my doubts about the P38. Might eventually have my motor engineer chum strip the engine
and check the cylinder sleeves
Have him change cams at same time.

At the time. I was working for a multi-national company as a radio engineer. I needed a vehicle which could get to remote ( very ) transmitter sites, carry plenty of gear and, most important, not generate any electrical interference with the receivers installed in the vehicle. The diesel ignition is hydraulic not electrical so perfect. But I found the Rover 2286cc a little underpowered. Had the chance of the 6 354 Perkins and fitted it without thinking about the length. Follies of youth.
And, Yes, petrol all the time for me today. I'm not into this diesel frenzy of the last decade.

I salute you for knowing where it is. And the sauce is not everybodys cup of tea. I personally like the Brummie Brown sauce.
But when I had the Safari. I worked in Cambridge. And my ' stuffy ' chums used to be disparaging about Worcester. Claiming never to have heard of it. So I would ask them,
" How many cathedrals are there in Cambridge ? " Answer none, nearest Ely ten miles North
" And how many Kings are buried in Ely cathedral ? None, but of course King John is buried at Worcester together with Prince Arthur, Henry VIII elder brother.

Yes. And leave the car at home and take the train. Unless you can tow a parking space with you.
The ground elevation of my house approximates to thirty feet below the top of the cathedral tower.
So flooding does not concern me. One of the ( very ) fortunate few. Thank you for your kind comments.
