Hi Everyone,

TAKDriver is working on a P38 he is about to inherit, but it has a broken connector at the fuel filter.

The fuel supply pipe comes to the filter at a 90° Bend, and that has broken. :(

It's easy enough to join the PIPE with push-on connectors if we have to joint it, but where can we get at least one of the fittings that connect the pipe into the filter head body?

Does anyone know how they come out?

I personally would not use push on fittings to join a fuel pipe. Reccomend using Wade, or similar compression fittings (With a nut & olive)

Not me.
Nuts and olives on plastic pipes at 4 BAR pressure is asking for the nut and olive combination to cut the pipe end clean off. I've had several of these fail on plastic pipes. They are fine on copper and steel pipes, but dodgy on plastics.

Better by far to use the proper push-on connectors with O-rings. They grip the plastic pipes very strongly without cutting into the pipe. Never had one fail yet.

But that's not my enquiry!

What I need to source is the pipe-end fitting that joins the pipe to the filter head. Anyone?

Right guys,

the bit we need is this ...

It is a length of pipe up to a first push-fit.

Part No ESR 2960.

Where can we get one please?

Can anybody tell me how to get the fuel pipe out of the filter housing.
I have already snapped the bend leaving a stub sticking out from the spring-clip block which seems to be attached to the housing.
Every time I touch a bit of it it comes off in me hand and I don't want to do any more damage as I have a new pipe arriving tomorrow.
I've got pics but might be too big
Help appreciated.

Thank you Irishrover.
Found the fuel pipe connector at Britcar

You wouldn't by any chance know how to get the remains of the end of the fuel pipe out of the fitting on the filter housing ?
It's a square plastic block with a spring clip : obviously removed spring clip and tried straight push/pull : that's when it snapped.
Now I'm trying to get remains out for new pipe.

He fixed it.

It's out and replaced right back to the tank. Good thing too.
Plastic fittings seem to have hardened over time, and become brittle. P38 BMW diesel owners might want to take care.
