Hi guys!

So I've been roaming around all over the internet looking for an O2 sensor for Freelander 2003+ TD4, 2.0l manual. In fact Any Freelander I TD4. There seems to be none installed. Someone said it's The MAF sensor...but no, that's for the intake, has nothing to do with what comes out in the exhaust.

If cars don't have O2 sensor, they normally have AIR/FUEL sensor, but again, I don't think TD4 has one of them as they are quite modern.

So..how does TD4 measure exhaust gases? Specifically, how efficient combustion is, and how much oxygen comes out, measuring how well the fuel burns.

It seems TD4 lacks such basic measurement? I hope I'm wrong. I see NAS Freelanders have an O2 sensor, but TD4 nope...

I actually need this sensor to check fuel trims... to understand how well the fuel is burned. Is there any other way to measure this?

Any help appreciated.

There isn't an O2 sensor on the M47R engine.

It's a diesel with a simple oxidation cat in the exhaust, so doesn't need to measure fuel mixtures.
Being a diesel, it's throttled by fuel, so adding more fuel simply increase power produced.

The MAF is used as an emissions device on the M47. It's used by the EDC to limit fuel supplied, if there's insufficient air to burn the injected fuel. This strategy limits black smoke under acceleration and other periods of full throttle running.

There's no fuel trimming done on a TD4, as the mixture is variable depending on the demand of the driver.
