Hi all,
I've got a prob' and don't know which product to use to cure it. Car dealer had my disco' back to get a leaky sunroof fixed.
The guy doing the work did fixed it in his mates work shop, his mate just happens run a spray shop.
Needless to say my disco's paintwork has lost it's lustre and feels like fine sandpaper.

What would people reccomend, apart from smacking him in the gob?

Stu.

Take it back and demand he rectify the problem, and get a couple of quotes from proper body shops. Tell him if he doesn't do it you'll take him to small claims court in order to force him to pay.

If you want to doit your self you could try tee cut, or a body rubbing compound

The responsibility is with the dealer, so make sure he gets it in the neck. You need to give him the oportunity to correct the problem to a satisfactory standard before looking to take the matter further.

It wouldn't hurt to seek the opinion / advice from a descent bodyshop (if you know one you can trust) to get an understanding of what is really required to sort the problem out..

They're having it back on friday to go over it with some G3 stuff.
Hope that works.
I'll be getting in touch with a bodyshop to see what needs doing, it should help if they try "pulling the wool".

Cheers.

Obviously if this is a friend who's done it you dont want to go round ranting and raving at him, ask him politely if he'll rectify it. If not and you decide to do it yourself. I worked in paintshop years ago. Trick of the trade is to use Brasso. Yep brasso the metal polish.. It's not as harsh as t-cut or rubbing compounds. Dose'nt damage your original paintwork just removes muck, tar and overspray.

Agreed.

It's their mess, they need to fix it.

Don't do anything yourself, but do find out what to do. I suspect the bodywork needs to be polished with some sort of rubbing compound.

Nooo Nooo Nooo yer dint (did not incase yer have a problem with bad spelling) read the post properly. The garage owner sent it to his mate's sprayshop.

providing your car has origional paint then thinners will do the job, if its had any aftermarket body work then dont use it, g3 will only flat it off so it becomes smooth but wont take it completely off.
