Oversized intercooler

Thinking about putting an oversized intercooler in my Defender, the type that sits infront of the radiator, has anyone done this? and does it stop air cooling the radiator down thus cause the engine to get even hotter?
If I am talking rubbish, ignore me!!!
Also I have noticed them for sale at straight forward supplies for £199 has anyone used one of these type?
 
Ive done this many many times :)

the airfolw is very slightly restricted to the water radator but the lower inlet temps gained by fitting a bigger intercooler keep the running temp down.

so all in all its 6 and two3's
