llanarmon DC for any green laners my dad owns the
alright dudes im slowly doin up a series 3 4 cyl diesel and i need to no a bit about the override cuz when i bought it it came with it but not put on yet so is it worth puttin on are they any good and is it true that the series landys are bad for skipping on the road when ur hoofin it if any1 nos anythin itd be a help cuz im not sure wether t put it on or not cheers mons
 
Hmmm, it would have helped if this post was in english. But from what I could decipher, I hope I am giving you the answers you need.
By override, I assume you mean Overdrive. Yes they are fairly simple to fit, and are definately worth having. The Fairey ones are very good but becoming harder to find now, but are not too expensive. the Rover Drive unit is easier to find, a superb piece of kit, but eye-wateringly expensive.
The series Land Rovers, if fitted with old, crappy tyres, and more powerful engines, can over steer if you drive like an idiot in the wet, however, I don't think that is much of a problem with the 2286cc diesel.
 
Oversteer shouldn't be a problem with those tyres and engine combination, but depending on what size those tyres are, you may find your acceleration may be a little sluggish to say the least, especially if you try and use Overdive while accelerating.
 
Am I correct if I think that an overdrive is like an extra high ratio gear, it will not make it go faster, just use less revs/fuel when driving in overdrive? I had an overdrive in an MGB GT and I seem to recall this was the case.:confused::)
 
If you have a powerful enough engine, then an overdrive will increase you max speed, but only if your engine has enough torque to rev high enough to take advantage of the taller gears. Many series Land Rovers are not restricted so much by their lack of power, but their gearing is so low that the engine is revving it's bollocks off at about 50 mph for diesels and 60 mph for petrol engines.
