Overpriced landies

I've not owned a 'true' LR since my Series 2A/3 days, had four RRC's since & love their comfort but I have to say that the 'real' thing does still get under my skin, even after all these years, in the way that no other vehicle has ever done. I still drool a little over LWB safari's (V8's of course) but I don't think I'll ever own one again.

Discoveries are something else.every land rover is filled with defenders and discoverys. These are a downgrade p38. Everything was deliberately aimed to be less than a p38. So why do they go for so much money? Even disco 1s fetch daft money. I reckon those mags that big the disco have really negative reviews of the Pegasus( 38) to the point when you'd think a series 2 was a better vehicle than a rangie because you need a magic box to diagnose ffs. Discos are popular because there not a range Rover. There badged land rover so people can buy them without rr issues.

About 6 years ago bought my P38, wanted a defender 110 but after having driven them in the military for years really new they were no good for really long hauls so that was out of the question plus what they were asking for old vehicles was just stupid. I was taking the vehicle it on a long trip through Europe to the Crimea for my winter vehicle. looked for a long time and have never been disappointed with my choice. Looking at the prices today of the same model same year with the miles I have on my beast now it is still the same price as what I paid for it 6 years ago so for me it was good investment. Yes it has had its niggles as with all these vehicles but have given the beast some TLC and it just keeps performing and every winter when I get home and fit the battery and turn the key and it fires up just brings a big grin to my face and sadness when I park the beast up again in the spring to come to work. P38 Love them or hate them but if you drive one long enough you will love it.
