I just thought i would share my overheating woes with you.
Driving into Manchester last week I noticed the temp gauge creeping up.
I pulled over and waited 15 mins for it to cool down.
Not far down the road it creeped up to max and the red light came on.
I pulled over again and checked the expansion tank and released the cap slowly to let the pressure out . wow it was hotttttt.
I eventually limped to my local garage and feared the worst.... rad, head gasket, etc.
The mechanic thought it was just the thermostat as it wasnt working efficiently.
My belts were well and truly nackered so he replaced these too.
All built up and hey it ran for an hour okay but then it overheated again.
Reading the bible (forum) i thought aha all is not lost and prayed for a crumbling water pump.
Alas it fell to bits real good when it was removed.
The car is now running fine again. ( touchwood )
Thanks to all the contributors on here whose diagnostics saved me a fortune........
