As the title says. Got an issue with my 2a overheating. Iv changed the thermostat twice. Changed the coolant too.
And recently discovered an odd thing too. When I first bought him he had more oil than it should. Was above the high mark. Seeing as I have a small oil leak I thought I'd check it. Was just under the high mark. Thought il top him up, so now it's just above the high mark and noticed that he's not over heating as much as before. This has really confused me. Can anybody offer some insight?

And to add an update. I can sit in the landy on idle. Gauge stays smack bang in the middle on the N. I can be sat in it keeping my foot on the pedal keeping the revs high. Gauge stays in exactly the same place

To my knowledge the gauge and wiring is fine. As I say it sits happily where it's supposed to when sat idling and even when sat with the revs high. Only when I pull away does it creep up

Tell a lie they're hot on top and cold down low. I noticed yesterday whilst doing a chemical flush of the cooling system, with the top hose disconnected rad end. The hot water was coming at a rather slow pace. Is this correct or should it be gushing out

Probably rad is blocked. Seen it many times before
Not sure. When using the drain plug at the bottom it comes out REALLY fast.

And when I say that the water coming into the radiator via the thermostat is slow I mean there's a faster flow of water from me when I'm stood infront of the toilet (most polite way I could think to say that)

I'd like to say thermostat however this problem of over heating was around before changing the stat and I tested the current one before installing.

Unless the stat isn't opening fully as it should. And unless anybody has got a better idea. I'm Beginning to wonder if my water pump has suddenly failed?
