Overheating 1.8, help?!

So after all that, I'm now pretty certain the head gasket has gone! But at least I have my answer at last, time to start stripping it down.
I can't wait to get it back running nice, I do love these cars, they're great fun and so comfortable to drive
 
I tried to convince myself mine was everything but the gasket

Done 8k since I changed the lot and it's been spot on, except for the 26mpg

Yeah I really thought it was an airlock, but hopefully I can get this changed over the weekend and get it back on the road.

I just knew deep down it would end up being the head gasket!

Are you going for a Payne Elastomer? I believe it may not be the best if your engine is in perfect nick but is more forgiving of a less than perfect engine.
