Being a bit of an idiot I've over filled the oil a bit on my td4 its about 1/4 " over the top dipstick mark, before I drain it just wondered if anyone thinks it'll cause any problems.

about 10 years ago i worked for a company as a courier, one of the blokes there over filled a 6 week old merc van and it buggered the engine, dont know by how much but i wouldn't risk it

it would only mess up if you did some really steep offroading and the crank and a piston were thrashing the sump contents, if you are uneasy then drain it back to the mark

Look on the bright side - if you had bought a defender / series Landy you could leave it overnight and find at least that much oil had leaked out. :D

I'm sure the system becomes somewhat pressurised. How much hassle is it to drain the system and refill to the correct level? Better safe than sorry I think.

This man definitely knows what he's talking about. Couldn't have put it better myself.
