Great. There's CCTV evidence of the actual theft and a positive ID on the
thieves. There's just the small problem of the legal system to contend
with. And the sentencing - two weeks, suspended as it's only their
ninetieth offence.

In which case, may I politely suggest the following as a suitable punishment
for the dear little scumbag bastards?

1. Wait 2 or 3 weeks then take them to a place far away from people, where
their screams can't be heard.
2. Bodge-tape their gobs shut if you feel the need, but remove before step 8
for full effect.
3. Ratchet-strap and tie-wrap them, naked, to a fence.
4. Apply cold water in quantity.
5. Attach one conductor of an electric fence unit to, say, an earlobe.
6. Attach the other conductor to bollock of choice.
7. Apply more water in quantity.
8. Switch on, wait 10 seconds and smile!

If you wear suitable ski-masks, gloves etc, and your means of transporting
them was, for whatever reason, unidentifiable, then I don't really think
there'd be much to worry about. For maximum effect, use a fence controller
with adjustable output.................. just think how apologetic you could
persuade them to be..........

FWIW Nige, my sympathies to you over this one mate. Personally, I'd have
lost the plot and kneecapped the ****ing ****ers by now, and any of their
scum mates that dared to get in the way as well. Christ, I'm glad I live in
the far north! Good luck getting it sorted matey.

No Rich, if I were a bleeding-heart, I'd be advocating community service or
somesuch other irrelevant "punishment", blaming their misdemeanour on some
family circumstance or hardship due to their status on the social ladder.
Unfortunately, the only law these scum understand is the law of the jungle,
i.e. PAIN! Hurt them hard enough and they won't mess with you ever again. I
know this from experience, just ask the little bastard that keyed the bonnet
of my freshly-restored Jag XJ6 Coupe in 1987!! He did some 20-or so motors,
I got him, he did no more! Do I feel irresponsible for taking the law into
my own hands? Do I hell as like. I got a result that prevented future
re-occurences whereas the coppers wouldn't or couldn't have.
I genuinely sympathise with Nige on this one, as the "law" will undoubtedly
let them off with it regardless of the evidence, because of some
money-hungry-no-sense-of-right-or-wrong solicitor getting them leniency on a
technicality. It happens all the time, in the few cases where the cops
(including CPS and Procurator Fiscal) actually take it as far as court.
As for me being a Guardian reader, well, when do you want your back-copies
returning mate? ;-)

I think you'll find most of the population agree with this the differences
are the extent to which the suppport is voiced in public.
Most of our present problems seem to have appeared due to the low level
response we usually see to trash who deserve to suffer the consequences of
their ant-social crap.

Seem many a time the liberal response is tuned up somewhat when those
advocating easy action become victims themselves.

Many here behind you Nige !!

Me too. I was only warning him in an earlier post not to put himself in
deeper trouble than the thieves, which these days can all too easily happen.
Don't "pop round and have a word", or better don't get caught doing so.

Recycle them, mate. We get a copy in work and I get my fill of left-wing
drivel every time someone else nabs the Times or (my guilty pleasure)
Richard Littlejohn in the Daily Mail.

I think we agree on this one. :)

Personally, I'm guilty of reading any L/R related literature, various
classic and tuning mags (NOT max power type!!) and the odd caravan mag as
well. trying not to look at the caravan ones at the moment as every one I
seem to look at has that fat prat Bellamy banging on about the environment
and 4x4's. How can a caravan club, a substantial quota of who's membership
utilises 4x4's for towing, advocate having someone with that mentality as
their president? Seems at odds to me.

> I think we agree on this one. :)

Cool off Nige. I know this will be small recompense, but here in South
Africa, we tend to regard ourselves as temporary custodians of motors, TV's,
general household appliances etc, and actually regard it as a good thing if
you are not killed when your vehicle is "affirmatively shopped/hijacked."

We have adopted all the worst daft liberal polices your lefties have come up
with and taken them to new extremes, and then combined that with a police
force that couldn't give a toss. We probably see a less response from the
plods applied to a murder than you will get to your bike.

In the immortal words of Faulty Towers, "Cheer up mr Faulty, there's always
someone worse off than yurself."

But you do have the option to shoot back; my friends wife did just that and
the police response was " are you OK" "good off you go then"; now thats what
I call using common sense.

Maybe, but the satisfaction of the level of response can make up for it to
some extent.
I dont advocate outright social breakdown; however a response to fit the
crime is what is needed here and when someone infringes your human rights
they should forgo any of their own !!
