No it doesn't, it lumps you with the tossers who don't vote and then
complain.

> That said, for the last 10 years ICBATV....

Then why complain? If you're out of the system how the hell can you expect
to change it. Sitting on your arse does absolutely nothing because no-one
knows you're wasted vote or spoiled paper is dissent, they just think you're
a tosser for not voting. Change doesn't come about by whingers WCBATV and
instead do nothing. Change needs people to do something about it.

I believe every vote, whoever is voted for, counts. One man and his vote
can make a difference. If you decide to either not vote, or spoil a paper
and thus effectively not vote, all you do is add to the problem.

Sorry, don't agree. It's not a wasted vote - that's when you stay at home
and do nothing.

I don't buy this about "if you don't vote, you don't care". What if none of
the choices are acceptable to you? Would you have us vote for the one we
dislike the least? A spoiled paper is a positive gesture, better than
apathy.

A spoiled paper is indeed a positive motion - if more of the 'non voters'
spoiled their paper then there would be far more impact than their stopping
at home....

Good idea!! That would shake things up a bit.

And even better if you actually write (e-mail) each candidate and tell
them why you haven't voted for them.

The last thing I want is a government that "responds to public outcry".
That way ultimately lies disorder and riot. It's a scientific rule "For
every public outcry there is an equal and opposite silent majority".
Incidentally I haven't said anything yet about my politics - I've just
tried to show that brainless ranting merely makes the perpetrator look
stupid. You might have inferred that that implies something about my
political ideals but that's your problem

That's a great idea. But it isn't what happens at present, so a spoiled
vote is a wasted vote.

As has been pointed out already, emails and / or letters to the candidates
do make a difference, wasting votes doesn't.
