I have a 2003 110 TD5 in OSLO BLUE where the paint job is very poor. The paint is peeling off in several places bonnet, hinges all round, roof join and rear wing panel. The dealer was not interested as it was not a vehicle supplied by him but I persisted and eventually made contact with 2 authorised paint shops. One said " seen this before but never as bad as this " and advised it may be a possible re-spray rather than patch up, the other has gone for the full works of rub down and full respray with 3 weeks min in the bodyshop.

I have the quote and await a call from Land Rover warranty claims department for an inspection before getting the go ahead.

Anyone else out there with this sort of paint problem or has delt with the warranty claims department at Land Rover?

3 weeks for a paint job is a pretty long time!
i'd be inclined to go for the full rub down and respray to be honest mate.
dont know what warrantly land rover provide on the paint, if any at all. be surprised if its more than a year if there is one though. especially on defenders which generally get more use off road by farmers etc.
i'd go around a few good independant bodyshops and ask them nicely to give you a quote and a report on the paintwork, in terms of what they think may have caused it. everyone of them will say poor prep work, poor materials or just a bad key i reckon.
i'd go straight to LR head office with a letter, see what they come back with. try and keep everything logged and make sure all letters etc are sent recorded. just in the slim chance you have a leg to stand on you can hit them with a portfolio of ammunition.
i gather it has manufacturers warranty left of it? also any ideas of what the bodywork warranty is? should be in your warranty documentation somewhere :)

I have a peeling paint problem on my 2002 defender 90, Oslo Blue, how did you solve your problem, please.
