The only good part of taking it apart was if a grinder could reach the nut or bolt it was cut off.

The tin worm has had a good feed over the years.

Replacement panels and a Mig welder sure you couldn't go wrong along with being a qualified Mechanic and Welder.

The Parts Department.

By this stage it was clear to see that the Chassis was heading to the local scrap yard. Not to worry as a new Richards Chassis was on route for the rebuild. Along with a lot of nice new shiney bits.

And the strip down continues.

bth_IMG_0551_zps1f0d5a9b.jpg

Got the whole thing shot blasted before I started to strip it down and then slapped a lot of galavafroid on it to stop it from rusting. As you can see someone has had a go at replacing the bump stops before looks a nasty mess.

The new Chassis then arrived.

Now the real fun begins !!!!!!!!!!

Chassis arrived the week before Christmas and I got it rolling before going back to work after Christmas. To get to this stage to me about 2 months with very little help.

I hope yous have enjoyed the project so far, I will update the rebuild tomorrow to hopefully bring it up to date.
Away ideas, information or comments on the rebuild would greatly recieved.

Only in from the garage after working away at the landy. So I thought I would upload some more photos of the re-build to bring it more up to date.

The seat box and battery box were in a bad state.

I decided to make my own seat box ends and a new battery box from scratch. I was very pleased with the end result.

The battery box was made slightly bigger to give more room for two batteries.

When it was all put together I thought it looked quite impressive.

The time then came to decide what my final choice of colour would be as I wanted to paint the bulk head before it was refitted.
But again the dreaded tin worm had been at it agian with the footwells.

Once the bad parts were cut away new pannels were made from 3mm plate and welded into place.

Thats the re-build nearly up to date will get more photos up in the next couple of days. Fingers crossed the rest of my parts come back from the galvanisers before the Easter holidays so I can get the tub fitted or work will come to standstill and might as well go to work.

Well home early from work for Easter so time to update the rebuild. The best part of today is the fact that the front wheel arches and the rear rear tub floor beams have been delivered from the galvanisers, so lots of progress on the build over the holidays.

The rear tube quarters and rear pannels were in a bad shape, so I made new rear pannels and checker plate pannels for the quarters.

Time to fit the new pannels

I decided to buy new corner caps as there was no chance of me making them and mine were a bit bent.

IMG_0660_zps86d55032.jpg

The next job that I was going to tackle was a new checker plate floor and and cover the rear arches to freshin the inside.

To be continued.

Time for an update on the progress of the rebuild.
The floor and rear wheel arches were in a sorry state so I removed the floor as it had corroded into holes in places and the underside was in a worse state.

IMG_0666_zps78483c02.jpg

New floor made, rear tub underside cleaned and all painted with aluminium primer paint.

IMG_0668_zps73175a93.jpg

Floor fitted and started to paint on a stone chip/sealer to the whole underside

Once the three braces that were galvanised are fitted the tub can be fitted to the chassis.
