Only one fob, how best get a spare one?

Might be worth trying the previous owners. Maybe one of them has the original spare lying about and just forgot to hand it to the dealer when it was traded in. I am sure you can get a full list of previous owners from the DVLA for about a fiver. Got to be worth a couple of phone calls before splashing out for a new one.

Yea you could give them your address were you keep the car they have a spaire key for and maby they can post it to you

I actually lost my one and only key at the weekend. I ordered a new one from the local LR stealers and they wanted to have the vehicle towed in to initailise it with the key. I seem to remember reading somewhere that it is possible to initiialise oneself. Can anybody confirm the procedure as I don't want to screw it up and land myself in more expensive trouble.

Syncing the key depends on the year of the car, post 99 it's easier. either way it's covered in the owners handbook or you can do a search. If all else fails contact mozz smith:)

Anyone got the procedure from their owners handbook because mine is locked inside. 1997 P38.

Turn key anti clockwise 4 times. Return to centre position after each turn.
Enter 1st number (if 4 then 4 times clockwise). 2nd number anti clock. 3rd clockwise. 4th anti clock.
Then turn key to the unlock position once to disarm alarm & re-mobilise engine.

Key arrived at the dealers within 4 days. I used the key to unlock the drivers door. Once I placed the Key in the ignition the central locking unlocked all doors. I then turned the key and it started straight away. After switching off the remote fob then worked to lock and unlock the doors.. All this was done without any initialising/syncing proceedure! (Dealership had suggested at the time of ordering the key that the vehicle needed be towed to their garage for the key to be programmed in to work!)

Now I just have to make sure I don't lose this one!

Main dealers in Carlisle gave it to me FOC when the car went tits up in the town centre a few years back (wifi interference problem) Don't remember their name but they were very helpful. I even sent a letter to the managing director.
