I went way OTT given the dry weight for a P38 is a notch over 2t, but it wasn't overly expensive and I know it will pull out another P38... or a BT van stuck to the axles in a soft verge.
The 15t shackle won't fit through the towing eye, but it's pin does. Can be a bit snug on some vehicles. I know they have a big safety margin, but generally I'd prefer the shackle to be stronger than the strap, since if something fails I'd rather it wasn't a lump of steel.
I prefer some bailing wire, and send her all the way in high range
I've done things with bailing wire that would make most hardened farmers grimace.
When I was young you used to see bailing twine everywhere. Farmers used it to mend fences, hold cars together, anything you can think of. Don't see it anymore since they switched to those round bails with the plastic sheet stuff round them.
Yeah, it was free though. It fits the tow hook on my bus and so far everything I have towed. Admittedly that isn't much.
Good going that. My old bus sounded like it was hating life when I started pulling out the BT van, but once the turbo came on song it popped out like a spot.
Gack! Not tirfors. I have PTSD after having to recover a MAN SV that got stuck in Belize. Wouldn't be so bad if we had trees to lash it to, but it required 2 ground anchors driving in. With 8 pins on each. Took us 3 days of hard graft.
