I’m back again lol so after my becm problem was re synced and sorted cars ran lovely the past 4 weeks however car decided die on me today eml light came on car lost power came up gearbox fault on the dash it’s a 2002 51 plate p38 2.5 hse with 96k miles on the clock hoping for good news not bad pleas

You need the codes read. Do you have nanocom?
It could be something as simple as a low voltage at the ecu (it is winter and that can kill a suspect battery) or it could be something major.
Without knowing what code it's throwing its pure guesswork.

I’ll get it plugged in tomorrow yes I’ve heard a few ppl say about the voltage issue the battery is only 5 months old brand new cost me £95 could possibly be alternator issue but it’s all guesses at the minute I’ll get codes pulled tomorrow and report back it’s not what u need this close to xmas

Coasting with dead engine in gear will cause gearbox fault to come up. You need diag, more than likely it will show quantity servo fault. Can be held off by increasing idle slightly. But will eventually need a refurbed injection pump. Also check lift pump function for flow and capacity.

Worry about the price until you have a diagnostic result, maybe just a miner fault somewhere?? Wammers has his crystal to hand, he's never bloōdy wrong... hopefully this time, he may be wrong...:p;)

Just a quick one does the alternator on these have anything do with the gearbox I.e if the alternators faulty would it possibly put that message on the dash?

The gearbox fault is a red herring as stated above.

refurbed pump from Diesel Jones more like £650 before fitting. 96k miles would be an early fail I think.

Just to add to the mix, earth fault or maybe crank position sensor?
