How do you fit a push start button ?

I want to hook up a push start button for my disco, I know I have to cut the wires that are are for the third stage of the key turn as they make the starter motor fire it up but not sure how to do so

Anyone done it before or know how ?

simplest way could run a wire from batt +ve,to one side of push switch-other side of switch run a wire to live side of starter solenoid.Push switch engine will turn over-you will have to have the key in as well to override start solenoid etc

the simplest/safestway is remove the white red wire from rear of ign switch . take a feed from ign switched supply usually green / green white (ie second terminal on ign switch) route thru big red engine start button back to white/red wire earlier removed from third terminal on ign switch. then you just switch on and press button to start HTSH

Can't see why you would want to TBH.

And remember that the standard ignition switch actually switches off all the auxiliary circuits when in the crank position.
