95 P38 4.6HSE

Hi All,

My new P38 suspension appears to work fine but..........

How long should the pump stay on for ?

I can hear mine if I pull up at lights or to park etc.

If I raise the car to full height she will stay up without a settling down, can't hear and hiss so I am not aware of any leak.

Have you any advice ?

Regards Fred

How long should the pump stay on for ?

Until l its up, should take no more than about 15 secs at most (if all is working well)

If I raise the car to full height she will stay up without a settling down,

It will, until you do about 20 ish MPH then it will drop in to cruse mode

I can hear mine if I pull up at lights or to park etc.

You shouldn't

Have you any advice ?

Not saying this will work, but it may help you, change the filter on the pump (about £8) or clean it out, its an easy job, screw it out and then screw the clean or new one back in

Cheers Dopey,

Thank's for the reply

Only just got the car so I don't know what to expect.

Changed the filters (Both) and while at it the mountings.
Car raises and lowers easily and quickly so the fact that the pump appears to run beyond what I expect is cofusing me.

The teflon piston ring in your compressor may be torn/worn - take the filter off the end while it's running and put your finger over the hole to see how much suction there is
Should be enough to pull your finger onto the hole quite tightly - if not, time for a new ring
Search for compressor seals on the range rover pages of ebay - they are only about £20 and a fairly straight forward job if you take your time and follow the instructions
If you have plenty of "sook" then leave it alone :)

Thank's V8Kenny,
I will try that and report back.
Fred

My Report
Finger over hole, I have light suction but not enough to stick your finger to the hole.
I will try to locate the spares you advise.

Update
Replaced pump, quieter but still the same, seems to run all the time.
Still no hissing and suspension appears to work as it should.

Thank's Fred

If your pump is running continuously you may have a problem with the pressure switch. The pressure switch sends a signal to the EAS ECU when the correct pressure is reached, the ECU then shuts down the compressor. I beleive that there is a test procedure in the RAVE electrical manuals.

Thank's for your reply..
I was lucky enough to get a whole EAS box from a crashed RR, it was still under pressure when it was removed from the car.

Should I change the whole valve block or try just the switch ?

I must some manuals as I would like to read up on the EAS system and how it should perform.

Thank's Fred
