After an enjoyable 4 days of motoring in the newly re-engined Freelander V6 :) A new fault has appeared :( I keep getting one orange HDC light come on. If I switch off the ignition it clears but then the next time I set off it might come on but might not!! It seems random but annoying all the same :( Any clues out there?

Me too sometimes.

06 TD4 Auto. Runs fine but needs the restart to clear it.

Clues?

Thanks

Looks like I found out why I had the light the hard way yesterday :( After my haste to get the Thermostat changed on the new engine moments before the MOT I didn't fit the cruise control actuator rod onto the vacuum capsule correctly. It had fallen off causing a sticky throttle. On 2 occasions has held the throttle open enough to confuse the HDC putting the light on and finally stopping me opening the throttle at all just is I was setting off for work :( although it was better to do that before I set off rather than when I was halfway there without any tools to sort it!! Thanks for your help ;)

Good news, glad you got it sorted

Thanks and it looks like you were rite ;) the engine ecu was sending an engine idling signal to the Abs ecu because the pedal switch was closed but because the throttle was being held open by the jammed cruise control rod, it knew the throttle was open hence the light.
Thanks

I had that orange light come on on my 2001 v6 and restarting fixed it. It was the sensor on the accelerator pedal. The sensor works, but every so often it gives the "system" a duff signal. As this sensor value is backed up by secondary measurements it's the system that ses it int right. Don't know about fault codes as I didn't have anything to look at them at the time.

I have same problem. HDC light on. I had a wire broken on the HDC switch, fixed that but light still on. Go figure!

Nick.

The pedal switch is my thought as the light seems to come on randomly as I am feathering the throttle when maneuvering. The HDC switch is a bit sticky to due to lack of use I expect.
