Hi guys,
Let me introduce myself as I'm new to the forum. I live with my girlfriend in Rotterdam and we've decided to go on a trip with a Land Rover with rooftop tent. We planned on renting at first, but when we compared buying vs. renting for a period of 8 weeks, we knew buying would be better.
So we bought a Discovery 2 TD5 from 2000 Diesel with automatic transmission. We love the car and changed the insides a bit to our liking:
- Removed the 2 rear fold seats
- Removed the rear seats
- Installed a rooftop tent (Jimba Jima Sheepie)
- Installed drawers and a work table for cooking in the back
- Installed a compressor refrigerator
- Installed dual battery system mainly for the fridge, including charge relay connected to main battery and 12-230 pure sine wave converter for the compressor fridge
Right now we are heading to Barcelona from the pyrenees and still have 6+ weeks ahead of us. We've encountered some minor problems and for that I'm looking around at the forums. So far it's been very useful only by reading up to older threads. Thanks everybody for all the knowledge sharing!
